The first years stopped and waited for the doors to the Great Hall open. Miranda who was started to get scared decided she should listen to some of the conversation going on. She decided to listen to two girls and one boy talking about which houses they'll be in. The first girl said that she hoped to be in Griffyndor because it was the best house there is at Hogwarts. The boy said that he didn't care which house he's in because he just wanted to learn and fit in with people his own age. Lastly, the second girl, who looked really sad, said that she wished her twin sister was with her. Miranda looked at the second girl sadly and sighed, wishing that she had a twin, older, or younger sibling, it didn't matter as long as Miranda wasn't alone. But Miranda was alone and has been for the last six years of her life. Miranda decided that now wasn't the time to mourn over her life, it was the start of her new life. Mourning over her old life would be ridiculous. To Miranda, it was time that she starts feeling brave and face whatever was awaiting before her. The first years started moving forward again. "Time to face the crowd," Miranda thought.

Kessidy James looked up at the ceiling of the great hall and was amazed at how such a castle could be built. Kessidy looked down at the ground and and back up again. When she looked back up, she looked straight at a girl with long brown hair and chocolate brown eyes.
Kessidy studied the girl, until she noticed that the girl was a staring at a group consisting of two girls and a boy. The brown haired girl looked really frightened. Kessidy wondered what got the girl she was staring at, so scared. "Maybe, she's just scared because she doesn't know what the sorting's going to be like.", Kessidy told herself. Kessidy already knew what was going to happen at the sorting ceremony. "All you have to do is try on the hat.", Kessidy thought. Kessidy was going to go over to the girl and tell her there's nothing to worry about, but the line started moving and into the Great Hall the first years went.
